We've got a new arrival here at the hospital, and it's a little girl!

 

My friend Will, who hails from Holland, is now a father... and I know he's looking a bit tired in the photo, but I assure you he couldn't stop smiling as he looked at his new daughter sleeping next to his wife.

 

Of course, I'm no expert on babies... but I am an expert on food, so I whipped up something that would carry him and his mother-in-law through to dinner, with a nice fresh mixed greens salad with seared salmon to keep things light and nutritious.

 

For dinner, I decided to go with something that Will's a fan of - the steak and ale meat pie - and I served it up with hand-cut potatoes, which I have to admit, were pretty darn tasty! The potatoes are baked prior to being cut into wedges, then fried at 170ºC until they get bubbly and crisp on the outside.

 

We'll be making some pizza tomorrow, and hopefully Will's wife can start on solid foods again soon... because I don't want her to miss out on the goodies I've got cooking up here at AIMA!
